Discover the History and Heritage of SNJMs

In this year commemorating 175 years of the existence of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (SNJM), several activities and events are organized to make known the history and heritage of the first teaching congregation of women religious founded by a Canadian, Blessed Marie-Rose Durocher. Here is an overview of some of the activities.

EXHIBITION EDUCATE TO LIBERATE until January 25, 2019

Recognized for their mission of education, the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (SNJM) have always sought to meet the needs of local communities in education, spirituality, respect for human rights and justice.  Come and discover the diversity of their works on three continents and the spirit that continues to motivate them today.

Presented as part of the 175th anniversary of the first congregation of women religious founded by a Canadian woman, this archival exhibition is open by appointment to the public of all ages. Guided tour (duration 1 hour).

EXPLORE THE WORLD OF SNJMs

Broaden your exploration by visiting Marie-Rose Centre which is dedicated to the foundresses of the congregation, as well as the Foundation House, the chapel and the historic rooms where Blessed Marie-Rose Durocher lived.

A VISIT OF DISCOVERY

THEMATIC TRACKS

• Lover of history and heritage? Inquire about the Heritage Building track in which the concepts of architecture, archeology and the mystery surrounding the disappearance of the Saint-Antoine Stream, are interwoven. Minimum duration 1 hour.

• The Spiritual Pause track immerses you in the quiet reflective atmosphere of the original chapel of the Congregational House where the spirit of Mother Marie-Rose has brought comfort and inspiration to more than one visitor. All is pleasing to the eye and other senses, especially the artistic bas-relief, in this time given to personal reflection...

Visits from Tuesday through Friday by appointment. Summer schedule: Wednesday to Sunday by appointment. Voluntary contribution.
