St.
Rose Heath Centre Peka,
Lesotho
St.
Rose Health Centre was opened in 1935 by the Sisters of the Holy Names.
Since that time it has given comprehensive health care to the people in
Leribe area and its outskirts.
New expectant mothers, well-baby clinics and a maternity
section where women come to have their babies delivered are some of the
services the health centre provides. In one six month period 141 babies
were delivered.
Since 1998 the number of patients, especially young
mothers, who are dying of HIV/AIDS continues to increase. The number of
orphans are gradually increasing as well. The staff of St. Rose health
Centre feel a strong call to support our people during this HIV and AIDS
epidemic. The staff is exploring ways of expanding the services and support
offered to patients and families suffering from this disease.
